The Big Bang

Theoretically Speaking

"Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up." - Stephen Hawking

According to livescience.com, a scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis or group of hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing. If enough evidence accumulates to support a hypothesis, it moves to the next step—known as a theory—in the scientific method and becomes accepted as a valid explanation of a phenomenon.

The phenomenon of life itself and how it came to be, has been an ongoing study for scientists from the beginning of.....time. Or at least what we know of it. Stephen was right, in that we should be curious, and we should always be looking up. It is possible that perhaps we aren't to know all the secrets of the universe, and that in itself is fascinating.

You could go insane trying to figure it all mathematically. You just can't go back that far, and to claim that you can find it out would be to say, that you have absolute knowledge. Which would mean that you would have to be everywhere at once, which no one has yet figured out? What Stephen Hawking has, is simply a theory. The big bang theory states that there was nothing before the big bang; however, you cannot create something from nothing. Science is cause and effect. Everything comes from something, so nothing, cannot come from nothing.

"To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." - Psalm 19:1

If you want to see a miracle, simply look up.... everything around us, even the way our bodies and minds are made up, are too unique to simply have been created by anything other than a higher power. By a brilliant mind, for a big bang, could not have done such handiwork. And let's say there was a big bang, I would say that was God speaking things into existence.

"God made two great lights--the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars." - Genesis 1:16

How would the Sun and the Moon, "know," when to come out. It's just not that simple an answer. There are so many questions we can ask, and so little answers that we have. Except what the bible tells us.

"But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?" - 2 Chronicles 2:6

The heavens cannot contain God; therefore, how can you prove that God does or does not exist. Since we are neither, Omniscient, Omnipotent, or Omnipresent we cannot begin to explain what is external to this universe, or the hand behind what is. There must have been something that sparked, “the big bang.”

"For with God nothing shall be impossible." - Luke 1:37

The fact that Stephen Hawking has lived as long as he has with ALS, is a complete miracle. Most are diagnosed at the age of fifty five, not twenty one, and generally live only two to five years after diagnosis. He defeated many odds, and he did have great care; however, I believe that God has kept him, through the prayers of his wife. One of the most brilliant minds, with such a diagnosis, head to head with God.

When asked if children should pray to heaven, Stephen says, "there is no heaven." How can you protest this? Where do our loved ones go? He says there is no heaven to pray to. Basically when we cease to exist that's it? It makes no sense because we are so fearfully, wonderfully, and uniquely made with such intelligence. We mine as well be wildlife if there is no heaven after this, no reward after journeying through this world. To struggle so hard to prove God doesn't exist could prove be an endless battle. We do not know the beginning from the end. The bible says that God is the beginning and the end. I guess one day we will know all the answers.

The Law Of Gravity

“Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” Hawking writes. “It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.” - Stephen Hawking

The law of gravity does not provide an answer as to how the universe could have spontaneously come into existence. Why and how does the law of physics even exist? This has not been answered. We are after all to look at all variables aren’t we? This just points back to the fact that we do not have absolute knowledge of the WHOLE universe. Therefore we cannot say that God does or does not exist. The true believer, has believed even though they have not seen. It’s a heart thing and a faith thing. But to say there is absolutely no God, cannot be absolutely correct

In Conclusion

One thing I do know is that God loves Stephen Hawking, and all of us. I believe miracles happen everyday in this world, alongside the bad, that no one can truly explain.

He was right in saying that human aggression will hurt us all. We do need to be more kind to one another. God did command that we love one another.

The only equation I find in this world is to, "seek and find." "Ask and you will receive." God wants us to seek him out. How else can you know if God (a spiritual being) truly exists, unless you seek him, in a spiritual way. Our human minds are a very small part of the equation.

"If God were small enough to be understood, He would not be big enough to be worshiped." - Evelyn Underhill

The Leaf

Take a look at a leaf, simple thing to us... and view the intricate details of that leaf, and think to yourself, how unique the mind that brought this leaf into existence. Be curious.
